Sterling Stiles, Termite Department Manager
With more than 36 years of experience in the pest management industry, Sterling Stiles brings a wealth of expertise, leadership, and technical knowledge to his role as Termite Department Manager at Lane’s Professional Pest Elimination. His day-to-day responsibilities include planning and coordinating termite treatments, training technicians, managing chemical inventory and equipment, maintaining company vehicles and property records, preparing customer estimates, and ensuring company policies are followed. Sterling also serves as a trusted resource for both customers and customer service representatives, answering technical questions and helping solve complex challenges. His extensive industry knowledge and commitment to excellence help ensure Lane’s continues to deliver exceptional service to every customer.
Sterling’s career in pest management began in 1990 after receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Army. After relocating to Charleston, South Carolina, he answered a newspaper advertisement for a pest control and termite technician position and was hired on the spot. That opportunity sparked a lifelong career, leading him to earn numerous professional licenses and certifications. Today, he is a Clemson University Certified Master Termite Technician, Master Pest Control Technician, CL-100 South Carolina Official Wood Infestation Report Certified, QualityPro Certified, and GreenPro Certified. He has also held pesticide applicator licenses in three states across seven categories of pest management and is currently licensed in both South Carolina and North Carolina. While his experience spans everything from fumigation to general pest control, termite management remains his greatest passion and area of expertise.
Since joining Lane’s, Sterling has quickly made an impact. After being named Lead Technician during his first year, he was promoted to Termite Department Manager in April 2026. He approaches every workday with the same discipline and preparation that shaped his military career, often arriving around 7:00 a.m. to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee while preparing for the day’s activities before the office comes to life. Two pieces of advice have guided him throughout his career: “If you plan to be on time, you will likely be late, but if you plan to be early, you will always be on time,” and the military principle, “Good fortune favors the prepared mind.”
Outside of work, Sterling treasures time with his wife and son, especially peaceful Saturday mornings spent together over coffee. He is an avid mountain biker and has enjoyed the sport since 1989, finding both peace and spiritual renewal while riding through nature. As he often says, “If you can’t see the Lord all around you in nature, then you must have shut your eyes.” Sterling and his family are passionate dog lovers. Their two-year-old Shih Tzu, Jojie, has quickly become the center of attention in their home, following the cherished memory of Chloe, Sterling’s beloved Shih Tzu companion of 14 years. Away from the trails, Sterling also enjoys building custom gaming computers—a hobby he has pursued since 2000—and relaxing with video games. When it comes to food, his favorites include carne asada or barbacoa tacos, pizza, steak and potatoes, hot dogs, sausages, and a great cheeseburger.
